Every day we offer end of tenancy cleaning that leaves bathroom fixtures looking fresh and new, as if they were fresh from the store. It’s also something that our regular cleaning service can handle for you. However, we wanted to offer some tips for people who wanted to take care of the job themselves. First, it’s important to understand that scrubbing your fixtures down on a regular basis isn’t enough. The problem isn’t dirt. The problem is limescale. Limescale is a milky white calcium deposit that comes from hard water. The minerals from hard water get left on your fixtures every time you use them. You can get rid of limescale with a limescale removal solution, with white vinegar, or with lemon. You might also want to mix in some baking soda so you can get some mild abrasive action going once you start to scrub. You see, the acid in these substances breaks down limescale, making it easier to scrub, polish, and shine your bath fixtures. In all three cases you want the solution to do most of  the work for you. Soak paper towels with your cleaner of choice, then wrap them around the fixtures. You can also use cloth towels, though you may want to hold them on your fixtures with a rubber band. Leave the towels to soak for about an hour.  Particularly stubborn stains may need to soak for more than an hour. After an hour you can remove the paper towels. Scrub and rinse your fixtures. You may need to scrub them down with a toothbrush or other hard scrub brush in spite of soaking them down. It depends on how long the limescale has been allowed to accumulate on your fixtures. You should see a lovely shine. If they’re still looking a bit dull try wiping them down with Windex to get that shiny metallic look. If you take these steps any time you start to see those unsightly spots and streaks you won’t give the limescale time to build up. That means you’ll always enjoy bath fixtures that look brand new. All your guests will wonder just how you did it!
