How Long Will A Spring Clean Take?

Often when people call us and they want a one off clean, they are often surprised about how long we estimate the job to take. Having spent many years cleaning all sorts of houses with different shapes and varying degrees of dust and limescale, we now have the experience to be able to judge. The job always takes longer than it seems. Why? This is because spring cleans are about the nooks and crannies and these take the longest to get clean. It is easy to give the house a quick vacuum and dust. But you definitely would not want to pay a lot of money for something you can do yourself in 15 minutes. For example in many spring cleans, dusting the skirting boards will not be enough, they will need to be washed down. This is because over time, the dust kind of gets ingrained into the paintwork and a light dust will not get rid of it. So the cleaner will need to go round the house with soapy water and a cloth and wash down all the skirtings. The same applies to grease in the kitchen, cleaners will need to use a lot of elbow grease to scrub it off as it is now stubbornly ingrained into the tiles. There will be lots of grease stuck on cupboard doors and door handles too. This is all a lot of work that doesnt take 20 minutes. In bathrooms, the lines in between the tiles often turn yellow and some get mouldy. The cleaner will need to clean in between all these lines and remove all the build up. Another main culprit in bathrooms is limescale. This builds up around taps, shower heads and shower rails. All these will need to be descaled in a spring clean. If you happen to have pets, there is likely to be hairs stuck in strange places that the cleaners will need to get to and get rid off. The same applies if you have children, windows are often dirtier as the little ones love touching and leaking windows. Another point to take into account is also your individual requirements. Some clients will want books off the shelves and individually dusted whereas others will not have books to be dusted. Often what happens is when cleaners start to clean, they can begin to see that what appeared as white is indeed cream. A cleaner can start wiping a white cupboard door and as they do so, they remove a thin layer of dust and it then becomes obvious that all the doors are actually not as clean as they seem. So there will be a thin layer of dust covering all the doors but the owners may not see that because they are so used to the house but what they will see when they return after the cleaners have finished is that the house looks brighter. All in all, a number of factors affect how long a spring clean or an end of tenancy job will take. As cleaners when you ask us for a quote on an end of tenancy clean or spring clean, our aim is to give you a competitive quote without compromising the standards of the cleaning. Our work is always to a high standard and we pass many Inventory Checks from stringent agencies like Butterworth with flying colours. So give us a call and we will be happy to discuss your individual requirements, and work to your budget.
