Moving In/Out Inventory Check Cleaning

Many times we are contacted by tenants asking for our help with the cleaning side of things. Some of those who contact us will seem to think that the job will only take us a couple of hours and we always take our time to explain why this won’t be the case. Inventory cleans are not about a quick vacuum and dust. In fact they are very stringent focusing on the nooks and crannies and you could suffer if you take it lightly. Let’s take a typical 2 bed flat/1 bath flat occupied by 2 adults with no children or pets. What can possibly make that job take 7hrs to clean someone might ask. In order to understand how long the job would take they would need to know the tasks involved in the end of tenancy cleaning. So to explain, lets get into detail about what our tenancy cleaning service would cover in the kitchen.
  1. removing any items left in cupboards- e.g. food cans, old magazines etc.
  2. cleaning the cupboards inside- often there is hard to remove stains left by food spillages and these may need a lot of elbow grease and time to get rid of.
  3. cleaning the cupboards outside including those door knobs
  4. cleaning down all kitchen shelves- these can have a combination of grease and dust
  5. wiping/washing down the wall tiles-kitchen surfaces can be very greasy and a quick wipe is often not sufficient
  6. removing all items inside the fridge and freezer-most tenants tend to leave food items behind and these need to be cleared out.
  7. cleaning the fridge inside and out, including the door seals!
  8. removing cobwebs
  9. cleaning down skirting boards- in the kitchen these often need to be washed down with warm soapy water as the skirtings are likely to have stuck on grease marks on them.
  10. cleaning the kitchen door on both sides- just like skirtings, kitchen doors tend to have greasy marks which require washing as opposed to quick wiping.
  11. cleaning down light switches
  12. cleaning the kitchen window and sills
  13. vacuuming and washing down the kitchen floor
  14. cleaning the dishwasher inside and out
  15. cleaning the washing machine inside and out- including washing the door rubbers, inside the soap trays.
This list is just there to put a point across and is therefore by no means exhaustive. And also jobs done on each end of tenancy clean will differ to suit the particular requirements. But I hope it helps to explain that an End of Tenancy Clean is not a quick job but rather a detailed and thorough one.
